Started 4 weeks, 1 day ago by chaseakarl
I have an 08 f 350 king ranch with the built in break controller and I cant get the running lights for my trailer to work. There seems to be no power to the connector yet still have trailer brake lights and trailer brakes. I think I checked all the fuses and all in intact. I did however hook up an electric over Hydraulic trailer a few days ago and the info station said trailer wiring failure ...

Sorry, when you say you think you checked, do you mean that you just looked visually, or did you take a multimeter to check?

Had the same issue awhile back and the dealer had to replace some kind of module under the dash. It was covered under warranty so I can't be more specific as to what it was exactly.

Multimeter or test light and check for power at and through the fuse for the trailer running lights. Same thing at the plug on the bumper.

I would take it in and have it looked at while the warranty is still in effect. The wiring in these trucks are a nightmare, everything runs through a relay or module of some type...

Also check the blades in the plug. The same thing happend to me. Two of the blades were bent in and were actually sliding behind the connector in the trailer plug.

I had problems with mine. Turned out it was the trailer side 7way. It didn't look bad. The contacts didn't seat real good I guess. So check it with a meter at the outlet on bumper to make sure it's not the trailer side.
