Thread: Rotterdam for kids?

Started 4 months, 3 weeks ago by baloopa
Hi there. I'm planning to visit Rotterdam with my 7 year old daughter in Nov. Apart from Blijdorp, are there any good kid things to do/see? I was thinking of the Euromast, Kijkkubus and Spido, but all suggestions welcome. And where would be a good area to stay - looking at hotels near Blaak, but is this an OK neighbourhood? Thanks

Hi there, Euromast and Spido are nice indeed. The cube house, well it depends on how much they're artistically inclined. Our junior guests love the Tropicana pool/waterpark, near Blaak too, a lot more due to its slides and wild-streaming rivers. Hi there, have a look at the kids page on my website. The Maritime museum has a special kid's program. Villa Zebra is specially for kids. go4Rotterdam.com/go4visitors/go4kidsactiviti… Rotterdam City Center is safe to stay. Plenty of hotels around. Try H2Otel which is a hotel on the water very close to Blaak. Eden Hotel is also close to Blaak. Golden Tulip, Hilton...

Thanks for the advice. One final question: is the Rotterdam Port Experience worth doing, or not?

It might also be fun to go the Schevingen (at the beach near The Hague), and go up the pier. Or goto Madurodam in the Hague. And Kinderdijk, with all the windmills.

I haven't been there myself but it is very interactive so I guess nice for children. Maybe the WPE website can "tell" you more.

Blijdorp Zoo also is worth a visit. Walk in glasstunnels amidst sharks etc.

Got back from Rotterdam: feedback for anyone planning to go with kids. Tropicana: a big hit with my daughter. Euromast: fun, had a good lunch and not too expensive. Cube houses: she found these great, including the Kijk-kubus where you can look inside. Spido: awful! Really, really dull for both father and daughter. Good shopping in the department stores ...
