Thread: Rockstar North Jobs

Started 6 months, 2 weeks ago by Rikuide_Furame
I'm hoping for Rockstar North to be my entry into the gaming industry but with Agent having just been announced, I'd have loved to have been already working for them. Really cannot wait until we get some solid info on this!

do you have experience working with multiple programming languages? if not then there's no chance in hell you can get a job there.

I'm studying programming at Uni (familar with Visual Basic, Python, Java and of course, C). Their studio is only an hour from where I live and best of all, they don't require any industry experience from prospective applicants so I'm thinking I'll try my luck there first when I graduate.

cool. i think you also need a portfolio of your work. maybe you could create a short game of your own.

I'll no doubt have various works to show from my final year projects as well as any internships I do. I'm trying to do some work on the side during Summer too but my priority is a job that pays just now. It would be pretty sweet to land a job there though.

Yeah that ain't an easy job to get. No C list actor was going to play Benjamin Button.

Rockstar is pretty hard to get a job with. last time I checked they prefer to employ people who have already been involved with atleast one AAA title. The best way to get into the industry is to start at the bottom and work your way up, you'd have better luck getting a job as a tester for a smaller company to begin with. Even if you are over qualified.

I can't speak for their other studios but I've been to information days at their North studio and I've met their programming director (part of a presentation). Both he and their official website state that experience is not really a factor (though I'm sure it will play some part in their selections). I'm hoping to get an internship there which would stand me in good stead when I graduate.
