Thread: Rising taxes

California is not the only state to be on hard times Ilinois and Pa. are too right along with Ohio. California will be issuing IOU's and the feds have to pay for the old and infirm. Guess you all know who is paying California's bills now. Strickland is trying to sidestep the voters and allow gambling. When will it stop? In Illinois, the legislative session ended with no plan for paying state ...

Get used to it, our taxes will go up for at least the next 3 years.

The problem is during the good times the states just continued to [censored] it away faster than it came in. Now, the politicians are crying the blues that they dont have enough money. Why is it the government is the only entity that can raise its prices in hard times? Times are tough all over - the government must do with less like the rest of us.

The swelling public debt is going to have to be paid somehow and it will be essentially everyone with a job paying the tab.

We all know that governments cannot cut expenses. Everything they do is absolutely essential to our existence, and they never wasted a single penny of our money. Besides, according to some politicians, cutting taxes is bad for the economy so rising taxes must be good for it. Right?

Dems say they are to raise taxes on the rich to pay for healthcare, what a joke. All taxpayers will be affected in more ways than one. "In addition, key lawmakers are expected to call for a tax or fee equal to a percentage of a worker's salary on employers who do not offer health benefits. Smaller tax options remained possibilities, depending on the overall cost of the legislation, ...

Has anyone brought up the point that any tax increase offsets the stimulus? They are pointless.

I think they would prefer to "phase in" any increases after recovery. Ezra Klein got a look at what they are proposing in the Senate Finance Committee today, his report is here...

What is surprising is that there is no outrage among voters or even the media. I am against another 10-15% tax on top of what we pay now. How does Obama defend this tax on the middle class. I never believed the politicians when they spoke any of their lies about the stimulus not raisng taxes or no new taxes for the healthcare plan. I'm sick over how all the politicians just lie and lie to us. Nancy Pelosi Proposes a VAT - WSJ.com nk. The...
