Thread: Ridiculous advice you've been given in the gym

I just remembered this from a long time ago. I was deadlifting, and some kid came up to me, about 17 years old. He said, "I don't deadlift because I don't want to become sterile. Aren't you worried about that?" W. T. F.

I am not sure I have been told anything ridiculous just the usual "Don't arch your back while benching" and "Don't squat below parallel cuz its back for your knees" I will ponder on this and see if anything else comes to mind.

Lol. He probably heard that deadlifts increase HGH or something and then thought it was comparable to steroids. Stupid kids.

That there are no muscles in the back to support conventional deadlifts so I should only do sumo. He was pretty big too, and the owner of the Gold's I was lifting in. This was several years ago and I was just starting out, but I still was dumbfounded.

here was my response when I was interviewed and something was mentioned about deep squats being bad on the knees it was at the end of the vid
