Thread: Resist (noun - visual arts)

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by Ilona
Saludos, I am looking for a translation of the noun "resist" into a Spanish that could be best understood by people originally from Mexico. The context is: Oil pastels and crayons used with watercolor paint are called resists because the watercolor resists the area where the waxy/oily lines are. I really appreciate this forum, gracias!

Perhaps "se llaman repelantes porque repelan la tinta de acuarela donde se están aplicados." Or "porque donde se están aplicados repelan la tinta de acuarela." But check with a native on how that sounds. By the way, don't you have it backwards?: it's the resist that repels the watercolor, right?
