Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by Russell Coight

I bought a clay bar kit, some sealer & glaze and some carnauba wax. Is their stuff any good? I'm guessing these products are no good for removing swirl marks? If not please recommend some products that are. I'm ...

Don't apologise!!! That's what forums are for - to ask questions!! Mothers stuff is alright, it will do the job. There are higher end products out there, but what you have is fine for the moment. As you have guessed, nothing you purchased will assist you in removing swirl marks. For that you need a dedicated abrasive polish.....generally anything with 'Swirl Remover' in its name is ...

Good advice mate, thanks. Any idea what a detailing joint would charge for doing this?

Dave_Waxit replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Dave's advice is spot on. Cost will depend on your location...let me know and I should be able to refer you. Cheers Dave.

I'm in Melbourne, northern suburbs, close to Tullamarine. Do you guys detail aswell? Or just sell the products? I used the clay bar, definitie improvement, but certainly doesn't feel like glass. I followed your directions, is it possible to use too much lubricat? It felt real smooth, like it wasn't doing much. Could it just be a product and I'm better off turfing this and buying a ...

Thanks for the reply again. Quote: Yes it is possible to use 'too much' lubricant, but you would need to use A LOT to be considered 'too much'........were you re-kneading the clay to get a fresh clean section after every panel?? Yeah I was re-kneading the clay after every panel, sometimes twice a panel. There was crap ending up on the ...

Getting my black BF de swirled and the fine scratches removed by a professional, would this be a permanent fix, provided i iook after it in the correct manner, or is it something that i will have to do every so many months??

bfiipursuit replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
No if you have the correct equipment you can pretty much stop swirling.... But you need to have the correct equipement..

Loving your work Dave, thanks for the replies! I'm a fastidious mother trucker and as you say it's almost impossible to burn the paint, so I'm going to have a crack. 'Tis a fair point you raise about the level of paint fixing required, I reckon the surface is in pretty good nick, but it's by no means perfect. One thing that concerns me, how do detailing shops deal with stone chips? The bonnet/bumper area is pretty...
