Thread: Record HD to .mpg instead of .ts?

There is some other sort of wrapper around it, becuase just changing the file extension wont work. You can use 3rd party software such as HDTVToMpeg, which will strip out the MPEG, but this is obviously a work-around.

Unless I'm mistaken, .tp is mpeg. Try changing the extension to test it. You can change tp (what BTV records, ather than ts like everyone else) to ts and/or I'm pretty sure that you can add .tp to the list of extensions that xbmc will play BB
