Thread: Recommendations for face-lathering brush

Started 2 months ago by woosorio

Since I haven't yet committed to this style I don't want to sink too much $ into a brush at this point but I definitely want one that won't hinder my efforts so I can honestly assess whether face-lathering is for me. If it makes ...

Saville Row 3118, Il Bambino.

Rooney 1/1 or 3/1. Edit: Or any Rooney for that matter ,but the 1/1 seems to be the preference for soap users who face lather. The 3/1 I have works great for both creams and soaps.

I face lather with a C&E BBB and a recently acquired Omega boar.

I've used brushes 23mm and lower and they all work nicely face lathering. They include the Rooney 3, 1, Kent Bk4, C&E Best (a bit scricthy, though), and Shavemac 177 Silvertip. I think 23mm would be the largest knot I'd use for face lathering. Out of those brushes it's a toss up between the Rooney 3, 1 and Shavemac. They are both excellent...

If I'm not mistaken it would appear that the C&E is no longer available. Quote: Originally Posted by mmack66 I face lather with a C&E BBB and a recently acquired Omega boar.

Sounds interesting. How much do they run? Also, and you'll have to forgive me but, Shoebox? Who? What? Where? Also, I called my local C&E and apparently they have several of the Edwin Jagger brushes in so I think I might run over and pick one up this weekend. If anyone is jonesing I wouldn't be opposed to picking up an extra. Quote: Originally Posted by fidjit Omega 21047 Nice mixed bristle brush, not too expensive. Works...

It's pretty much the anti-consensus face-lathering brush (largish, moppy), but I loved using it. So, I'm actually in the camp with you, but I wanted to report the broader consensus in my earlier post. When you get that splay thing going with a nice soft brush.....I'd better stop there.

Where? http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/omega-21047.html As I mentioned Omega stated in an email to me that their current stock is the mixed boar/badger bristle, but their new batch will be 100% boar. I advised Gary and hence his "Large Re-Order in Process". Wants to corner...
