Thread: Recommendations For Air Brushes

Started 4 years ago by Jashyr
Having seen the wierd and wonderful things you can do with airbrushing on minis I'm thinking of getting one to use on my vehicles. Can anyone suggest a good make'n'model and preferably somewhere reliable I can find it in the UK. Ta Jash

I cant say in the UK where to get one. But I know everytime I have asked people this question I was told Ether Badger aird brushes. For easy use and parts etc. And have used one and its pretty simple to use clean etc. and Pasche (sp) dont know this one but its supposed to be the better and more uper model air brush. But ya the Badger works good and get the job done and mostly I can find parts...

Badger make really good airbrushes, and they range from beginner to advanced. Just a tip though, spend the extra and get an airbrush that has the two stage trigger. That way you can control the on/off of the air as well as controlling the amount of air used. It saves having to stop and fiddle with the nib each time you switch from an area spray to fine. Oh, and like GryDeath ...

Has anyone had any experience using or heard about Testor's Aztek airbrushes and how well they work?

Aztek airbrushes have had a mixed response, you either love them or hate them apparantly. Qick tip given to me from the guy at the hobby shop.If you do buy an airbrush and dont use it all the time then dont bother buying a compressor or air cans you can buy a fitting that will allow you to use a car tire for your airsupply. Also according to him you shouldnt need to go all out and get a double ...

I have an aztek double action and I swear by it. For the ari supply, I have used cans, the tire method and compressor. I prefer the compressor as you won't actually run out of air, it seems the other two have a tendance to run out at the most inopportune times. The can gets really cold and if you are using the standard hose for the airbrush they get really brittle. So if you are going to ...

I have both a Badger and the Aztec; I have been using the Aztec more since I got it due to the fact of changing the tips is easier and you dont risk bending the fine tip ofthe needle since the Aztec ones are just a simple changing of the tip, one tip for fine spray, etc. etc. So Testors Aztec , bAdger or Paasche are 3 of the top ones in my opinion and can't go wrong with either one of them.

Can anyone tell me if the badger 250 will work with acrylic paints? Also if it does do I need to use thinner to water it down or will alcahol or water work to reudce the consistance of the paint to a milk like consistancy? I have never used an airbrush before and got one as a gift. I have looked at the pamphlet that came with the gun but it is so old it only mentions enamels and laquers. Heck ...
