Thread: Real-time spyware protection

Started 4 months ago by gunnerone
Hi, can you guys recommend a good real-time anti-spyware program (free or paid, doesn't matter)? I have a couple clients who are constantly getting infected. They're running Avira for virus protection, but seem to need more. I haven't been able to find any good comparisons of real-time spyware protection software. Thanks

Malwarebytes Antimalware is a good scanner. It is available either free or paid versions. The free version is scan on demand, the full version offers you real time protection. You can find MBAM at the products home page - http://www.malwarebytes.org/index.php

I would not use Spyware Temrinator as it no longer a recommended anti-spyware prgram.

Well the list is titled "Rogue/Suspect" -- rogue means there's surely something wrong with it and I'd think suspect means they think something may be wrong but aren't sure. (shouldn't they have made 2 separate lists if that's the case?) So in 2006 they apparently decided it didn't deserve to be on the list. So unless we look at why it was on the list and why it got taken off, it seems like we ...

SW is run by Eric Howes - he spent years testing various apps and his lists have been invaluable. I'm not sure how much he contributes any more, but I do remember reading various exchanges in the forums between Eric and some of the creators of the real rogues - most illuminating. You are, of course, free to form your own opinions on ST. Personally, I prefer to steer clear of apps that ...

Sorry about my previous post -- I wrote it, then when it posted and when I read it back, I wanted to tone it down, so picked the option to Edit it and do that. Then I posted it, went away and came back later to see my edit had timed out and didn't reach the forum. Tried to post it again and now the forum said it was past the 30 minutes allowed. Anyway. OK. I'd be very interested to ...

I'm sorry I did not have the link at hand Bill. My source did come form Glas but I never bookmarked it. I use this combination. Anti Virus - NOD32 Anti Spyware - Spybot - Search & Destroy (has realtime registry protection) Router - 2wire 2701HG-G All ports are stealthed Windows 7 UAC Windows 7 Firewall That would be my current setup and it hasn't infected me ...

I sent an email to SpywareWarrior.com a few days ago, asking them to explain their opinion of ST better. No word back yet. Mcninjaguy, I didn't understand what you meant when you said this: "I tested the posts with ShieldsUP!" Tested posts? Was that a typo and you meant to write "ports"? OK that must be what you meant.

Re: Real-time spyware protection I meant to say ports. I use the Firefox spell check a lot and sadly it does not check for human error. __________________ If you have problem, PM me and I'll respond in the thread you made. power-supply-information-selection Microsoft MVP Neal K Nvidia Drivers ATI drivers Direct X
