Thread: Reading List

Started 1 month, 4 weeks ago by Coney
This is always something I'm looking for on these forums, but can never find it. What books did you read that made you switch to veganism? What books are you reading now as inspiration or as a reminder? What would you Highly Recommend to people? Right now, I've got these on my 'to do' list: "Farm Sancuary" by Gene Baur "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair "The China Study" by T. Colin ...

"Diet for a New America" by John Robbins is the book that turned me veg. Although that book should have been enough to make me go vegan after reading, it took internet forums and meeting other "real live vegans!" to help me make the true connection. *shrug* I've heard that there's more or less a revised version of this book entitled "The Food Revoluntion: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your ...

Holy hell. I kept just typing "VB" in the box and it was treating my post as if it was ALLCAPS, and making the B lowercase. I would like to take this opportunity to say it amuses me when the board filter works against the board. P.S. - It's not as funny when the post doesn't just say "VB" and nothing else.

After the Natalie Portman thing I am adding Eating Animals to my reading list.

Fast Food Nation and Skinny Bitch. I don't know the authors, sorry! I just ordered The China Study last night from Amazon, so I'll be reading that soon!

Anything by John Robbins influences me and encourages me to stay vegan. I've also read The China Project and highly recommend that. A relatively new book that I recommend is "The Face On Your Plate" by J. Masson. It speaks to animal cruelty, animal feelings, and has a great chapter on the fishing industry.

I wasn't too fond of Skinny Bitch for some reason. It seemed to be like some sort of fad that they were trying to wire into people. "Think for the animals, lose weight, go vegan". Then again, that is my take on that. Anyways, this is a great thread, because I'm looking to get some more books to read too. I highly recommend Making a Killing by Bob Torres, and Gail Eznitz's Slaughterhouse . ...

Has anyone read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Price?

FitChick99 replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Another vote for The China Study! Best book I've ever read. Skinny Bitch is what converted me. Yes it is a bit in-your-face, but it worked! I have the book Your Life in Your Hands, by Jane Plant, which is about breast cancer prevention and not eating dairy. I plan on reading it soon. I would like to read John Robbins' book mentioned above, Diet for a New America. I saw Alicia ...

I have looked at the website for the guy who wrote Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. He is definitely NOT vegan. So never mind. I will not be reading it because I have so many others I would rather read instead.
