I don't understand why old games can't be compared to new games, or why they shouldn't. A game is a game, whether its on Atari 2600 or X-Box 1080. Games age; some age horribly (RE) and some age superbly (Sonic 2). Like I said, the only thing I'm willing to let slide is graphics/sound. I would also argue that current-gen consoles haven't gotten more in-depth. Bigger and prettier, but games still need to be released. That extra size, those extra poly's, the sharper textures, take more time to put together. Better graphics engines, better physics engines, all take more time too. Combined with a market that demands more games be released to stay ahead of the competition, and depth has taken a plunge. Look at GTA:SA...
