I'm going to send this over to Dino and have him make a new nut and bridge for it then obviously let him set it up. I'm very certain it's a T-4 however I was told it might be an ST-4. It's an older model, I'll say that much. You can adjust the action via screw with a hex slot on the back, I hear his first runs didn't do that so it isn't that old. In case I'm wrong then you might know more...

It'd be nice to have a few more measurements, particularly depth. From the information given, I'd probably list it as 1/2 size. Bass sizing can be really tough since there aren't any exact definitions for sizes.

Hey Guys - Sorry to disappear so long here but I finally got around to taking some photos of the bass. My house is too small to store the beast with all my other guitars (not to mention my fiance would KILL me!) so I've been keeping it at my parents house. I finally just had a chance to dig it out. So, attached, you'll see some pics of overall condition, a couple big chips, and what ...

I just found the Kay Serial number page ( http://www.kaybass.com/KayHSerialNoList.htm ) and apparently this guy is an S-1 model made in 1956. I knew it was old, but I wouldn't have guessed it was 53 years old!!

Ed Fuqua replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
serial number makes it a 56 or 57....

Well, it's an interesting bass. Outside linings. Etc. Did you get an estimate from Robertsons? What do they appraise the bass to be worth? I think you're getting some ribbing because the price isn't consistent with basses from that region, from that time. Usually you're talking more like 35K and up. The scroll and neck are certainly not original but still, if it is what the label says it is, it could be a nice deal. Good...
