Thread: Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by bigdon-70blazer
That is my question. I am installing the rubber mat now and it is NO FUN! Won't lay down, won't stay in place and I generally think it is going to look like crap when finally done. Thinking about scrapping the rubber and going with carpet. What are the problems with that? Is there any better that the others or should I stay the course and it will all come out alright with the rubber? I am real ...

I bought these carpet floor mats from a local Biglots store don't know the brand for $10.00. The nice thing about them is they have a round clip in the corners that have hooks that go into the carpet so the mats don't slide around. The best $10.00 investment I have bought in a long time. I went back and got some for my other cars.

That really looks good. I was going with that because that was what it was originally, however there is no direct replacement of the mats. I think after stewing I am going to go carpet.

I've got wall-to-wall carpet and looks pretty good, but the tops leak and I think I want to switch to rubber mat. Where did you get the mat? I'm planning on buying a set, but I'd really like to find a quality item.

I am going with carpet when I re-do mine. Not planning on getting it very dirty though. I had an '02 F-150 with a rubber floor, and while it cleaned up okay it never looked "nice" after the newness wore off. If you want to keep carpet nice you get good mats and replace them every once in a while.

If you have the correct mat for the truck, it should be easy to install. Try warming it up with a space heater in the cab for a short time. The rubber should be molded to cover the hump and follow the contours of the floor. I bought some stainless self tapping sheet metal screws with finish washers to fasten the mat to the fire wall. New metal thresholds also made a big difference. In my ...

My CST still has it's original carpet, although not faded it is worn. I did buy a new carpet kit for it and plan to keep it that way. I just prefer the carpet for a much nicer look. Not hard to keep nice with good floor mats. Mine is more of a driver than a hauler. If I have any intentions of truck duties I have a pickup truck for that

still to this day i don't know why carpet goes in any vehicle espically a truck. maybe nice heavy duty carpet floormats to soke up wetness and mud . but that my opion .

bigdon- where did you get your mat? Do you have the rubber or the poly-vinyl mat. Can you post some pics for us to see?
