Thread: Question for those who bent or broke fusion hardware?

I am living with a nonfused SI joint....my Dr. said at first that the nuts/bolts/screws etc. were made to hold everything in place until you fused....roughly several months...after that they can do stuff....or back out. Now that really scares me.... How could that strong of a metal break??? well, I guess it could if that is all that is holding you together, ya think???? I hope that all of my "metal" stays just where it is...

I had a fusion about a year ago...went for my one year check-up this week and found that there has been no change in my x-rays since having some taken in May. In other words...there is little to no fusion taking place. He also found that one of my screws had a stress fracture. How did this happen? Well I'm a homemaker and do not do any type of work or activity that would jar my back enough to break a screw. I'm at a complete loss to...
