Thread: Question about working at at cosmetic counter

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by girly82
I have been putting resumes out like crazy in the last couple of weeks. My unemployment will run out the week after next so I am needing anything I can get my hands on. I applied at Elderbeerman for full time Estee Lauder counter. I had 2 interviews and my next interview the Estee Lauder Rep is suppose to call me and have a phone interview. I am really nervous because I have interviewed with ...

"...I think she is really interested in me because I have my esthetician license and massage license" YESSSSSSS! Geez goil, I hope you get that job. MT and licensed Esthy? You should'nt be working selling makeup at no counter Shoot, you're dual licensed! Do what you paid alot of money for learning. I'm keeping my toes and fingers crossed for you. hang in there. Deptartment stores and Estee Lauder want people who are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Selling skills will be important as will following direction from your supervisors. It may not pay well but it is some of the best training experience you will get as you have many people to practice on to build your confidence in sales and application techniques. Remain calm and ...

Doing a FREE service for a potential boss is standard procedure. Whether its a facial or a massage. Hey, I've gotten crappy massages before and facials I didnt like! Do it and prove to them that they cant run their business without you.

Thanks so much for the advice and positive feedback!!I am still learning my way around this board. Yes, I am licensed as a massage therapist and esthetician. I got lucky because I was taught massage while in Esty school. Since, the new laws changed, you must be certified in Indiana. I got grandfathered in. Also, my fiance works at the casino here in town. The spa gives the casino employees ...

I guess sometimes working at cosmetic counters, Walgreens and some such are the prerequisite to becoming a great Esthetician!

I worked the local Estee Lauder counter for about 6 months, then became a "PA" (promotional assistant). Their training is phenomenal. And, I can tell you that when you do start working as a full-fledged esthetician, your clients will be very impressed that you had that training. It's all about your market and your clients.......and what impresses THEM. I sold Mary Kay when my boys were very ...

working the cosmetics counter at a department store usually means that you will have sales quotas that you will have to maintain. before I became an esthetician, my mother was a devotee of clairins (from Nordstroms). the sales rep would call my mom regularly to tell her of new products, GWP, check on product levels, etc. I'm sure that she was able to raise her family quite handsomely on ...

I went to Kay's Beauty College. Swedish and Hot Stone massage was offered with the Esthetics course. I think it was around 200 credit hours for massage. I worked at a spa as a massage therapist and I learned more skills from the owner and employees.

I gave the massage therapist at the Medical Spa a massage today. She said it was the best neck massage she ever had! The owner said she would call me later this afternoon with a schedule, haven't heard from her. There's an open house later this week the owner would like for me to give chair massages to drum up business. Also, a national educator for a skincare line, will be having a training ...

I decided to take the job at the spa. I turned down the third interview with Estee Lauder. I gave away free chair massages at the open house and got a bunch of bookings off that. I also got good tips as well. The sales rep for Lucrece really loved me. She said I am going to do well there. I realized this is what I am truly meant to do. I know it will be tough but I also have help with my fiance. I wouldn't have been able to work both jobs...

Get a contract in writing from the spa. Talk is cheap and they count on you being there for the possibilities that are available. Higher commission or not, 40 - 50% of nothing is still zero. If you are required to be at the job for certain hours of the day they need to pay you at least minimum wage to stay there. I would recommend an hourly wage until you build up your clientele, otherwise it is not a true job. At least in the department store...

Question about working at at...
Published (2009-11-23 19:04:48)
I've always wanted to work at a cosmetics counter myself. I have only been licensed since June of this year, though I entered school for the Esthetics course in May 2007. I became stagnant for awhile after going to state boards in WA state June of 2008. ANYHOW back to the topic, I've always been passionate about skincare, and the cosmetics line Clarins really made a difference in my skin and so I was recommending it to people on...
