Thread: Question about cereal - Parenting: Newborn - 3 Months at WebMD

Started 2 months, 1 week ago by LuvMyLiLPeanut
I know that the normal age to start cereal along with breastmilk or formula is about 4 months. Have any of you tried to introduce cereal earlier than four months for babies that eat CONSTANTLY ?? DD also spits up quite a bit, and I heard that the cereal can help keep some of the milk down. Anyone tried to give thier LO's solid foods or cereals earlier than the recommended age? -- Me-...

Replying to: Question about cereal yes I gave cereal in my LO's bottle from about 8 weeks for reflux. Just start with rice...it is least likely to cause problems and I dont remember exactly how much I put in because I just did it by sight but we were talking earlier post about it and I think most Moms were saying I tablespoon per 6 ozs???? Just make sure its not thick just thicker, and ...

Replying to: Question about cereal My son is 5 weeks old and was spitting up all the time so I started a week or so ago adding rice cereal to his bottles and it helps out a bunch. my DS#2 the pedi recommended starting cereal at 2 months due to excessive eating. My pedi is very old fashioned and believes that if a baby is hungry feed them. DS#2 was actually on whole milk by 9 months per ...

Replying to: Question about cereal I personally wouldn't use the Karo syrup every bottle or LO's system wont adjust to rice, not to mention they don't need the sugar. Mine DD is now 6 months so she has been on the AR formula ( which is extra rice starch)and extra rice cereal in bottle for 4 months now and I cant remember the last time I had to use Karo. Sure you might have to 2-3 times ...

Replying to: Question about cereal The Karo syrup isn't w/ every bottle, just the two at night w/ the rice cereal b/c he does get constipated easily...hence the half and half w/ the rice formula. He was on strictly rice formula for almost two weeks and his tummy never adjusted and it was terrible listening to him scream every time he pooped b/c he was so constipated the whole time. The ...

Replying to: Question about cereal My little one is ten weeks today. I started to give him cereal is his bottles this past week. I had tried to hold out as long as I could, even trying the rice formula b/c he was doing the same thing and eating alllllllllllll the time. I only give it to him at night b/c I felt like during the day, I could handle his demand, but he was awake every hour ...

Replying to: Question about cereal I started giving Noah cereal I think the beginning of this month, maybe the end of last month. I eye ball it lmao but he had no problems whatsoever. Oh he was 2 months at the time. He was wanting to eat every 2 hours, 7-8 oz each...I gave him the bottle with cereal and he ate 7-8 oz every 3-4 hours afterwards.

Replying to: Question about cereal Your best bet is to ask your pedi, but ours told us to put 1 tsp rice cereal per 4 oz fluid (BM in our case) to help keep it down for reflux. DS2 also takes Zantac along with cereal bottles. We use Dr. Brown's Level 2 nipples and they seem to work fine. Again, ask your pedi for recommendations. Some pedi advise against putting any kind of cereal in ...
