Aren’t some F seats left open until check-in? Every time I have been waitlisted for an upgrade; there are (almost) always 1-6 seats not filled. Granted, I know that could just be people without seat assignments, but I thought those were left there for last minute F purchases and kiosk (e-first) upgrades? (Again, I could be completely wrong here.)

Wow. I came here to read of e-first. Instead I find somebody busy telling us his life story. I have no opinion of the OP at all, but if everybody came here with their "story", this board would be rather useless. Come on dude. Everybody has a story. And the airlines do not care, nor does it have anything to do with the question. Nothing. Zero.
