I have a question on rashes and skin allergies. Although diagnosed with Lupus I have not experienced skin problems other than one discoid rash years ago. My children, however, are experiencing problems. My daughter has probable Lupus and gets the malar and discoid rashes. Kristin, I don't know how much help I can be with this, I just wanted to say I am really sorry this is happening to your kids. The only suggestion I have is to take them to a board certified pediatric rheumatologist (if you haven't already). A peds rheumy might know of something that might help and he could help determine if your son was developing lupus. I'm also wondering if the ...

Hi-- I agree, the doc is the best place to start and if you can't get a good answer and testing done, you might need a second opinion. I get rashes frequently and remember that things like laundry soap, medications, and foods are also suspects. My med rashes have ranged from hives all over to scaly stuff under my armpits, to almost poison ivy type rash. Also, some people have problems ...

Thank you both - it helps a lot. At wits end with this. My daughter does have elevated liver enzymes a lot. My son hasn't been tested for anything yet. I'm still trying to convince his father that he needs to see a dermatologist and that it could be possibly an autoimmune problem of some kind. I read that kids from parents with Lupus can sometimes have autoimmune problems. Most ...
