Thread: Quarter stuck in the passenger seat belt latch

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by hcdeliwala
Hello, My kid has dropped a quarter in the seat belt latch of the passenger seat. I tried various methods to get it out (safety pin, screw driver) but it has not worked. Do you guys have any idea to get the coin out? I am thinking of replacing the belt latch as the last resort. Thanks in advance.

Unbolt it, smack it real hard on a 2x4 piece of wood upside-down (being careful not to break any plastic). Never tried it, but that's what I would try first. Watch out - the next trick up his/hers sleeve will be to insert a paperclip to an electrical outlet (ask me how I know). Robert

I'd try taking it out pushing the button and kinda thrusting it towards the ground while holding it. If that didn't work I would try spinning it around in a circle by the end. Centripetal force FTW!! I would imagine it has to come apart somehow. Use that as last resort. If you break it you break it your going to have to buy a new one if you can't get it out anyways.

Swear a bunch at the quarter and seatbelt, or just take out the thing and try to tap it out while speaking nicely to it.

The pliers at the bottom of the pic might help, if you can see the quarter at all.

this happened to me and I used a butter knife! get it in there and put pressure on the part of the coin away from you and pull/slide it out in a quick motion. That is how I got mine out!

All right. Now I'm on the edge of my seat. (No belt) I gotta know how you finally manage to get that quarter outa there.
