Happy Hump Day everyone!  We are back in the 90's again.  I am so not happy with these temps in November!  Supposedly we're going to the 70's by Friday - yeah right!  It's just going to be hot year around now apparently.  Anyway, sorry for complaining!  My land line phone has also been out since Friday and they say it's an outage in my area but I'm not buying it - it's been too long.  Okay now ...

Of course, I would love to have another Lab.  I still miss my ^Valentine^ so much.  I would also think about a greyhound but there are a lot of steps to maneuver in my house, especially go get outside.  The garage isn't too bad...just about 6 steps....but other exits have long staircases.  Of course, I know that DH would love a Great Dane but, even though I have a large house, a Great Dane is ...

It depends on what the circumstances of the Greyhound that is adopted.  If he is adopted directly from racing then stairs could be a learning experience.  If he has been fostered or is a return then stairs might not be an issue.  Although Spencer was adopted from the track, he never did have issues with stairs.  I like Great Danes a lot but yes they are too big and unfortunately do not have ...

I like big breeds, other breeds I like are Rottweiler, Great Dane, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, and cockers (whcih is the smallest breed I like). I do not care much about these little yappy dogs that suffer from Napoleon complex...ugh! For me a dog is a big buddy that enjoys walking around and is fun to play with, not something that might bark at the ball you just threw. A friend of my ...

I feel the same way about the larger breeds.  I don't know where it came from though because we had a small dog growing up - not a mini dog like what everyone likes now but a Wire Hair Fox Terrier.  Anyway, there's a gal at work that has Shiba Inu's and I just think they are so cute but yappy is right!  I have always liked the way they look but don't like their personalities! You sig pics of...

I'd love to have another lab, or a golden but my heart is with labs. I only like big dogs, no little dogs for me please. If I want small I'll get a cat. I do like Danes and we have friends that are breeding theirs next spring and my son and his wife are taking one. They want us to but their dane comes to visit now and then and Molly is so completely submissive that they are really just too big ...

I have always liked Danes but their lifespan is too short and I want my dogs with me at least 10 years if not more!

twototsgram replied 1 month ago
I'm curious, what is their normal lifespan?

cl-donnaldy59 replied 1 month ago
7 to 9 y/o.  My ex-boss had Danes and hers started falling apart with age around 7 y/o and had to be euthanized around 9-10 y/o.  Of course there are exceptions to the rule.  The larger the dog, the shorter the lifespan.  I don't know why this is and it doesn't seem fair but that's what happens.

It's a mad house here, DH is in South Africa until December 5th, so I'm all alone taking care of Ishyta and Jasmine, thankfully I have a good baby carrier so I can still do the morning walks, it's funny to see people look surprised at seeing me handle a big dog with a 4 month old baby strapped to my chest LOL The only issue is that I'm up at dawn Ishyta wakes up at 5.30, Jasmine wants her walk ...

Wow Cynthia!  I don't know how you do it with such a young baby and Jasmine all by yourself and for such a long time!  Impressive! The other Japanese dog I think you're thinking of is the Akita.  I had a friend with one - big, hairy but quiet.  LOL!

Jasmine is doing great, she is really bonding with Ishyta, those two are going to be quite a team :-) You know that is exactly how I think about human beings and babies and all, there used to be a distant past where we didn't have all the fleece outfits, plankets, thermals and whatnot and in some areas way harsher winters than now, the human species survived since we are here, so i think a baby can survive a 70 degree evening really. The...

I LOVE night's and your baby will be just fine as long as she is dressed properly. Humans are lots tougher than given credit for! Love hearing your stories about her and your culture. I've missed you. How is that adorable Jasmine.
