Hello there fellow LYNers well as the topic says, i'm currently using the q6600 and have been considering a small upgrade to the 45nm Q9550. I've been reading various reviews around the internet but i wanted to see if there was anyone here who has actually used both of these procs and give me some advice on whether the upgrade is worth it. In terms of usage, i do all sorts of ...
QUOTE(geforce88 @ Nov 7 2009, 10:51 PM) Q9550 is better than Q6600 technically, but not much difference even though under OC... if its i5 or i7, then different lah... well said i think ...but maybe bit diff in terms of proc temps... This post has been edited by kilowatt : Yesterday, 10:56 PM

thats y i said that intel going to stop producing 1156...well in theory... since i9 will release on 1336 platform... well we can see i3 oso but still we can say that 1336 got a lil bit advantage on delivering d high end cpu aite..?
if intel stops releasing lga1156 cpu next year, they practically shot themselves and gave amd a huge market as most people don't buy the lga1366 board and cpu that cost rm1700< i3 is still on lga1156 what advantage?full speed pcie?that hardly makes a difference
yeah, like people will buy mobo that costs 2x the cost of the cpu....... the point is lga1156 is not going to be discontinued before sandy bridge cpus are released

QUOTE(asamkipas @ Nov 9 2009, 10:36 PM) i dont think 775 will be gone that fast ...just see garage sales, any socket 775 mobo still sells fast, prices of Core 2 Duo procs are still high and even Intel themselves came out a new budget proc in the form of Pentium Dual Core E6300,so 775 still has life in it.. yup... sc 775 mobo and proc surely got loads of user nowadays... i dont think it will dissapear next year... maybe 5 years time......
then what's intel going to sell for the masses?they are not stupid to only sell expensive parts that most people don't buy.the only real benefit of x58 is the i9,now tell me,are you going to spend more than 2k for the i9 ?
i know...what i meant was, y need to different socket aite?? better stick to 1... so in this case, 1156 cater low end CPU rather than 1336... so there is a chance that 1156 will be obsolete next year...
Yeah i've been thinking about maybe changing to i7 for quite a while already but then again maybe i'll keep my money until i9 launches? =D Just considering whether a small proc upgrade will be worth it.
QUOTE(pl4tinum @ Nov 9 2009, 09:36 AM) Er guys can calm down a bit? I just wanted to get some info ler let's not get hostile with one another okay? Just to clarify some of teh questions my specs are as follows: Proc : 6600 @ 3.6 Mobo: EP45 UD3R Ram: 4 X 1GB Corsair DDR2 6400 Currently trying to get my proc to 4GHz but get BSOD till very sien even with very small fsb increases thats why i'm thinking of changing proc's....
QUOTE(soundsyst64 @ Nov 9 2009, 04:45 AM) if TS want to wait to collect enough money for future CPUs, Q9550 is a go. It can serves you for next 3-5 years yup, agree with this... even now ppl are still craving for procs like e8400, q6600, q9550 etc... and socket 775 mobo are still selling like hot cake....
QUOTE(pl4tinum @ Nov 9 2009, 02:34 PM) i'm not really a very hardcore overclocker in any sense lar. I just overclock a bit during my spare time but i don't know about you ppl but for me i feel that 4 GHz is some kind of achievement that i have to get before i change platforms gua. =D My Q6600 has been stuck at 3.6 for quite a while and am still trying to get it stable when pushing it past that mark. That's the main...
