Thread: Q6600 Overclocking help

Started 3 months, 2 weeks ago by compwizpro
I just began to overclock my q6600 after installing my new liquid cooling system. My specs are in my signature. Here are my current motherboard settings: Memory: CAS: 5 TRCD: 4 TRP: 4 TRAS: 15 Memory Voltage: 2.1V Voltage Settings: CPU Core: 1.50625v (1.440V in CPU-Z) CPU FSB: 1.45v Memory: 2.1v nForce SSP: 1.50v Nf200 voltage: 1.45v...

depending on the batch and revision of the Q6600.. you may not be able to get 3.8ghz stable out of the cpu.. are you running the ram in linked or unlinked mode? what is the model of the ram you have? load temps while gaming dont give you the full picture. you need to run orthos or multiply instances of prim95, set to small FFT's, either that or using intel burn test...

I have a G0 stepping. The ram is unlinked when above 3.6ghz. The load temps are from prime95 torture test. When I do small FFTs I get more like 45c. Thanks

well 750i is 680i chipset, if the same problem exits here with a tweaked 80i chipset. then the problem might be when you up the fsb more there is a unstable ram divider being used in the unlinked mode. you might have to settle for a slightly lower ram speed to get it stable, in linked mode. that is unless you dont have enough ratios to use then in which case unlinked is your ...

So as far as memory dividers go, should I just try different combinations and see which work the best. I know that when I was a 3.6ghz with fsb set to 1600 I wouldnt be stable but when I did 1800mhz with 8x multiplier, I was stable no problem. Could someone also explain exactly what the differnt voltages do, ie: fsb voltage, northbridge, nf200, etc that. Also if I wanted ...

Hey may be having VDroop issues as well. Keep the RAM as close to stock as possible when you push the CPU clocks.

what would be the highest safe voltages for northbridge and fsb? my current settings are in the original post. how much farther do you think i can go voltage wise given the stock chipset cooling? thanks
