Hi everyone
Thought I'd take a break from the usual stuff and talk about my puppy. He's called Joshua, a 5 month old border collie. Very very cute with freckles but has been very very mischievous lately.
Yesterday, i caught him tearing up the base of my bed and he has ripped all the fabric down one side. Today he has dug the biggest hole ever in my garden..now its been raining hard all ...
Hey, firstly your collie sounds lovely. I LOVE collies, so much so I now have 3, oh and a 3 month old baby. Yep I like chaos. We have just rehomed a 9 month old girlie and although she's very lovely she's on the happy chew road to destruction like yours. Thinking back to what my other lad did when he was young (ruined a stair carpet, lounge carpet, peed on the fire so much that had to go, ...
They all sound adorable....when mine (Wiemeranier not Collie) was a little "monster" he did all of the above, we had to replace a carpet which was only a year old ! The vet suggested a mild chilli pepper or paste it did him no harm & within a few days he stopped doing all the naughty things he did whine if we picked the jar up though ! lol Ive known friends that have had Collies & all of them ...
Thanks for the advice..much appreciated and I'll try your tip about the vasoline and pepper. I love him dearly despite his little mischievous ways. He pinched my granddaughters teddy yesterday and tried mating with it! (He's been eyeing it up for a while now) Hilarious and you can't help but laugh!! He's a little star though. I have some pics of him but not sure if you can upload pictures onto ...
Hmm... we have a basset hound and he is a right little f*cker, well, not so little now.
We go for a morning walk round a field with a group of other dog walkers and one of these includes a few collies. The owner was telling me (when i was going on about how cute their puppy is) that unless you keep their brain active they get a little destructive.
I understand that they are one of the more ...

I grew up on a farm with working collies and if you think an hours exercise a day even touches the sides you are kidding yourself.
These dogs will work like, well, dogs, all day long and think nothing of it. They are clever, easily bored and manic if not doing what they were bred for.
I think it is almost cruel to expect them to behave like a King Charles Spaniel. Rehome her now ...
Would love another dog ....nothing could replace Leon my Weimaraner he was adorable a great big softy & very switched on ...miss him terribly . Maybe in the next few years when everything is not so crazy in my life & everything is sorted. I miss that greeting when you walk through the door... where you nearly get knocked on your bum because they are so excited to see you !

I would be interested as to where you think the dog should be re homed?? I presume you mean into a farm and a "working" life, but as you would know if the dog has no working instinct the dog will be got rid of...or as you mention the cute look re homed into an...

However, most of them bribe their dogs with treats but a dog will do anything for a treat right !! Has anyone...

I used to have a border collie years ago and he was a fantastic dog. Like SillyJokes says, they are working dogs and need a lot of exercise. Mine used to constantly run around none stop whenever I took him for walks. I could just stand in one spot in the park and let him run and run.... he'd always come back. The vet always commented on how healthy he was My collie never did a days work in his life, but once he was put in a field of cows...
I had a collie cross lab And he was very ingenious with his time as a puppy - peeled potatoes, opened champagne bottles, climbed into our bed and pulled cover over himself!, took apples from fruit bowl on dining table ..... He was a lot better when we got a second dog (GSD), as he got older and as I worked from home more. One of the best dogs I've had, he was truly my buddy. I could take him anywhere and often did. I think that is the key...
