Thread: Project Yellow Telly

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by firemanbill
A while back I managed to break my wing in half on my 6ft Telemaster. Some of you may remember that... I have finally gotten around to fixing it up. All this rain the past few days has given me a chance to work on a lot of stuff. Since I had to cut open the wings to get the wing joiner out of both halves I have decided to recover the whole thing. A lot of the covering on the ...

Looks good Bill. I too like yellow, seems to be the only color that I don't loose perspective with. Paul

Thanks Paul, I hope to start taking the covering off the fuse tomorrow and get started on it too. I'm going to finish covering and hinging the ailerons and flaps tonight after dinner. Now I have the Waco, Shoestring and the Telly all in yellow. I think they are much easier to see in yellow also.

Yup I was wondering if you ever fixed the wing glad you have it done. I painted the wing on my SC yellow it does show up much better see it against cloudy or clear skys. Flaps are a great idea Bill with a screamer like the tele.

OK, thinks have been a bit crazy here lately but finally getting around to doing some work on some of my projects. Covering the tail was a bit more of a challenge than I had expected. Having to work around all the stuff that is already installed is difficult at best. It's starting to come together pretty good now though. I hope to get the bottom and sides done this weekend then get her all ...

looking good Bill fun to cover isn't it. Tell ya I keep playing with the idea of building a new tele in the 40 size I miss my mini tele. They are a relaxing plane to fly.

Looking good Bill are you adding any trim to the tele. To tell ya the truth I really don't like covering If I could sub that part of the build out I would. I'm getting better but doesn't mean I enjoy it any more. Looks like the cat wants a little action with tweety the yellow bird.

I always have issues with the color (adhesive) detaching from the covering itself. I've had really good luck using some older Coverite fabric covering. I'm pretty sure it was their first iron on covering. Regardless, it's really tough, and shrinks pretty good. Too bad they don't make it anymore.
