I'm having trouble doing the pushups and getting them to read correctly on either the regular training or the challenges. I think my main problem is that when I normally do pushups, my hands are a bit farther out than the balance board reaches. I've tried turning in my wrists (painful), and even holding on to just the corners, but nothing works. I even got a 2x4 and laid it across the board, ...
My only suggestion is for you to get stronger man....the closer your hands, the more muscle is takes. Sounds like you aren't strong enough to do a proper push up because if you need your hands to be wider than the balance board, you aren't doing them right
Yes, but the problem remains that the pushups don't register either way. I really don't have a problem doing them on the board, it just isn't as comfortable. Is there a way to get the pushups to register every time?
From what I can tell, you have to push up straight. If you push up and bend your arms a little the board recognizes the weight slipping and doesn't count it or something. I just try to be as straight as possible.
Don't listen to the first reply. I hate nothing more than flamers on these boards ("you're weak" in the case replacing "you suck at game x" in others). A normal pushup for a grown man does have a wider base for your hands. I am 6 feet/ 175 lbs and I have no problems doing pushups, but the small hand base in Wii Fit causes me problems, as well, because of the awkward hand/wrist positioning. ...
Actually, the wider stance uses your pectoral muscles more, and a shallower stance uses your triceps more. This is why diamond pushups are so hard to do. So yes, technically your pectoral muscles should be able to push more, but that doesn't mean that your arms aren't weak if you can't do a Wii Fit pushup. So yeah, "get stronger" is the right answer. You could try doing bench press with a ...
Once again, it appears that no one actually read my original post - please try doing so at this time if you wish to contribute to the discussion. If you do not wish to read or actually think about the actual question, then please do not waste your time or mine with an unrelated answer. I have less problem with the idiotic practice of flaming people automatically than I do with people just not ...
Ah, that's better. I deal with people who cannot follow instructions or comprehend information on a daily basis - I guess the Gamefaqs boards might not be the place for me to escape...oh wel. Now, to respond to the posts about getting stronger: I, like almost every adult American, could and would benefit greatly from increased strength and healthier practices. Of course, all muscle groups ...
Well, nobody will get 'strong' by doing bodyweight exercises. However, if you can't do them, there's obviously a problem. I suppose it could be a problem with your board, but unlikely, if everything else works fine. What the game does is measure the pressure you are putting on the board with your hands. If you are putting a significant amount of weight (I don't have a number, but let's say 70...

From: SailorVenusSHS | #011 Well, nobody will get 'strong' by doing bodyweight exercises. Strong in relative terms, yes. Someone who can only muster a couple of reps will garner strength and become "strong" by their standards before diminishing returns comes into play as they improve. For the rest of us, calisthenics can help with strength, too. I bench 355 but still use push-ups as repetition effort in my...
