Seventeen workers at Pratt & Whitney’s facility just south of the Martin County line were among 45 let go from three locations as the company scales back in anticipation of the end of NASA’s space shuttle program.
All 17 local employees were with the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne unit, which worked on the turbopumps for the main engines of the shuttle fleet and on the J-2X rocket program....
