Hey all,
We're getting some very good content going into the Wannabebig Serious About Muscle newsletter that goes out every two weeks.
Issue #1 contained a great article by Vincent Dizenzo which I also wanted to post here so that it wasn't missed.
The article is below, and the online version of the newsletter can be found here - http://www.wannabebig.com/newsletter/082009.html.. .

Hey guys, I've been training for powerlifting but I've been using a Pendlay olympic weightlifting bar. I compete in an IPF affiliated federation and was lookign into purchasing a Texas Power Bar. Is the Troy Texas Power Bar the same sold in elitefts.com and other websites? Is there another better and affordable powerlifting bar out there?
Thanks.
Christian

Don't mistake flexing of the glutes as the butt leaving the bench. The man has a bit butt, it was still in contact with the bench I am sure.

Video I found this very interesting. I've had some pec issues in the near past leading up to my last meet, mostly just some straining, nothing too major that ice and rest didn't take care of. however that said, I found Daves thoughts on squeezing the bar very interesting. I squeeze the bar extremely hard and while I'm going to keep using full grip in my shirt, I'm actually going to try false grip raw for awhile and see...
Don't prepare. Ask the powerlifters if you can train with them. Tell them you will be happy to spot and load. Shut up and listen. Watch every lift that's done closely. The quickest way for me to give up on a lifter is if they open their mouth while I'm telling him/her something. Remember their goal is not to train you, but to get themselves stronger. If you are an asset they will be willing to help. If your just an ass,...
Yeah, double overhand work will make your grip stronger for sure. I messed around with this just yesterday and went 345 x 6 with a fat bar (not an extremely thick one, but my fingers didn't touch each other) I work delivering 5 gallon bottles of water 5 days a week, and its honestly been the best thing for my grip strength. I think I could hold on to a couple of those things forever.

The website works. You can register with search engines to have them crawl your site. I signed up with godaddy.com to host. That gave me free advertising on google and facebook. You can get pretty specific in terms who sees your ad too. I was able to specify only people within a certain radius of the gym's zip code. Once you have bought google ads, then you seem to rank higher in future searches.
If you go conventional the metal king Suit is the way to go. If you are in a multi ply fed the adjustable straps are awesome. __________________ Best Lifts unequipped 750 505 750 Best lifts Equipped 1050 840 715 Thankfully Representing AtLarge Nutrition and EliteFTS
Great vid... I started a theard on this a while back and found out quite a bit of guys use false grip. I usually bench raw w/ the false grip however w/ a shirt I use a full grip. I agree w/ Dave on just about everything he said... The guy knows his s*** - Travis, do you think full grip attributes to more pec strains/ tears? I had a partial tear while benching w/ a full grip raw & never had a problem BP w/ a false grip. RC
