Hello again. My son Greg was diagnosed back in June. He has gone through 4 x EP chemo and had the RPLND done by Dr Foster last Thursday. The surgery went well, unfortunately we got the biopsy results back and there was cancer in the mass they removed.
Also, his history is early stage 2, one spot on the lung. The CT after the chemo showed one mass about 2 mm. The right testicle was removed...
Thanks Joe,
We just got the lab results and there is 10% EC on the outside of the mass, most of the rest was necrosis, but there was a slight bit of teratoma.
From web research I believe hes in for 2 more rounds, but the prognosis is good and hopefully that will be it. We are waiting to hear from Drs Foster and Einhorn for recommendations.
Tom
How many nodes had active disease? If there are fewer than 5 affected nodes (all < 2 cm), then he would be pN1, where the next step would be either surveillance (if compliant) or 2xEP/2xBEP.
Thanks Fed. There was one node, it was < 2 cm. The biopsy showed EC in the outer 10% of the mass.
I think my son's mindset is to endure the 2 rounds rather than surveillance. He wants to get this over with and move on with life.
One question re EP. He already did 4 rounds of the EP. It was successful in getting rid of all the cancer but the 10% around the mass removed in the rplnd....
That was my issue with the BEP. My oncologist and I chose EP over BEP
because of the affects it has on the lungs. When my EPx4 didn't totally
work we went with TIPx4. I'm not going to lie, it was awful, compared to
the EP. But it worked.
