I thought it would be fun to start a thread on some of the many things in life, for the most part, that people either love or hate.
I'll start the ball rolling with two.
1) Those who love liver and those who hate it.
2) Those who love the song "MacArthur Park" and those who hate it.
For the record, I love liver with chicken livers right up there at the top and I find "MacArthur ...
Well I think it's a good thread! Maybe the thread itself is polarizing?
OK -- I'll nominate Sugar Ray Leonard and Neil Young... and maybe even boxing itself?
The Dallas Cowboys.
I doubt there is any middle ground when it comes to that team.
The Van Halen Years WITH Sammy Hagar . Or Sammy Hagar in and of himself. Which more often than not eventually ties back to VH.
Never hear much that falls in the "gray area" with Sammy. It's either love him or hate him. Along with blaming him for something that happened before he ever joined VH...
Howard Stern
Jaegermeister......(self -explanatory if youv'e been there)
"Rock Band" The Beatles....(The guitar is a joke, the drums are kind of cool)
Camping
is for me. I likes my jazz that is more Piano and Bass, based. One of my favorite CD's is "3 for All" with John Burr, Sir Roland Hanna and Bucky Pizzarelli. But for ME, it is not without it's faults. Their version of All of Me is Brilliant. Makin Whoopee, which is primarily guitar based, leaves me wanting to scratch my eyes out. And my all time favorite Christmas Cd is Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas....
Internet Tough Guys. You know the ones, the guys who have the lingo but lack the background to understand how it should be employed. The "badasses" who let you know how they would put you in your place should the two of you ever actually meet. I'm of two minds about the bumpkins myself. Sometimes I would like to push their asthmatic faces into the mud again, others I'm content to allow them the on-going punishment...
Here's a cut from "Kind of Blue". Give it a listen after nightfall. If the notes don't go right through you then I imagine you just don't like good trumpet and sax : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoPL7BExSQU Here's a bit of Art Blakey as well. Makes you wanna don your fedora and head out into the city: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vglFMb9zUo (Sorry guys. Don't mean to turn this into another...
The Rumble in the Jungle was kind of a "Jazz-like" performance by Ali, improvisation by a virtuoso.... It may be more palatable for some on here to start with Jazz-Rock, as it is usually more structured, thematic and usually has very talented musicians working together as opposed to just showing off their technical abilities. Al Dimeola's "Elegant Gypsy" and "Casino" come to mind.

It sounded a lot like a version Sarah Mclaughlin would do (though I don't think Krall is the...

Izzat where you make words from pork rinds?
Sharks - not sayin Henley's performances are or were great, or that anyone has to like his songs. What I'm saying is that he delivers flawlessly every time - never off pitch and extremely wide range for a man (without ever sounding like a girl). Ditto for Bon Jovi - no fan of the songs, but the guy can do pretty much whatever he wants vocally. And you'll never get me to put down Mercury or Queen. I loved every album (especially...

For those of you having a hard time embracing the jazz genre, I have one suggestion: anything by the Yellowjackets. Try the CD, "Yellowjackets Collection". I defy you to NOT find something to your liking among the 11 cuts on that disc.
