Thread: Poker Run - Traverse City, Michigan - Next July
Started 4 months, 2 weeks ago by 357Matt
Anyone interested in taking part in a poker run to be held in Traverse City, Michigan next summer? We have a small group of us that are starting to put one together for mid-July next year, date TBD (and do it right) and would like to hear your feedback. It would be run in West Grand Traverse Bay, 7 card, with stops including Suttons Bay, Omena and Power Island, dinner included, Dave Sysco - ...
Will be $250/hand with first place somewhere in the $3-5k range depending on entries. Should have some cool prizes as well such as a hot air balloon ride, charter fishing for 4 people plus whatever else we can gather throughout the winter. Will be deciding on which Charity to sponsor later next week for proceeds
Sounds fun....what marina (and where) has the new floating docks??? Are there other stops other than the 3 (Sutton's Bay, Omena, and Power Island) you mentioned???
We talked about doing a fun run yet this year but this "summer weather" has not been favorable for boating...47 degrees this morning when I woke up!!! Coldest summer in 100 years is what "they" are saying! Unreal! We are going to do it the 3rd week of July next summer for sure. It will be the weekend after Boyne Thunder in Traverse City. We'll start reserving spots within the next month or so ...
Is Centerpointe Marina near the place that has the mini train rides??? I do not really know most any of the marinas up there....Just trying to figure out the location.
Clinch Marina had a train ride for the kids. It was part of the zoo's
attractions. This was in Traverse City. I think it is all closed up
now. At least that's what I remember from a few years ago. Money
issues.

No, it is NOT closed up....saw that cool little train running and...
That's okay, I am going to do a little RECON mission this winter and check it out for myself just so I can get a visual perspective before I drag my boat into an unknown situation....especially if it is conjested. I think the Poker Run sounds like a fun idea and I am looking forward to it.
KAAMA - I am not sure what you are asking about. The boat ramp that my Uncle and I use is technically called the Elmwood Township boat ramp. Centerpointe Marina I believe is in the same complex but separate - private/public - different townships - I don't know. If you look at the satellite view of the link I posted you will see what I mean. The phone number for the boat ramp at Elmwood Township is: 231-946-5463. I have seen many large...

Awsome idea for another run up there. Just my .02... I would perfer that there be a month or so between Boyne and this run. Kinda like getting a gallon of icecream and eating it all in one sitting. Its taste good, but it's all over so fast and nothing left for the rest of the week. lol
