Hey all,
I need your help and advice on whether to cave and buy a 6sp auto GT-P, or sit and wait for the (right) 6sp manual to fall in my lap? Pro's and con's? Oh and I live in Perth! (This is one of those times I wish I lived in Queensland!)
Your help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
JB

As a manual driver, this is so so so true.

Imo i would wait a cpl of months those cars you are looking at will be another year old very shortly and the prices will decline .
The auto is faster .smoother ,more economical and does not have diff clunk and noisy gear changes either but in saying that i still bought a manual . Allthough they are pretty rough .
Only real positive for a manual box is it will be quicker around a race track .

Does this mean you may not buy the BFII GT-P you posted about in another thread, did not realise it was a auto, I am also after manual only (even though I know the zf 6speed is fantastic)
Myself looking for manual only certainly has cut down my choices there seems to be a lot of autos around for reasonable $$$. seems to reflect manuals holding better re-sale already (abeit ...
Yeah bit tough out there lookin for a 6sp manual hey! Dean, I've considered all the options and the great deal I'm currently being offered and think I'll have to go ahead. Well, that's what I'm thinking this hour!
Tick-tock, tick-tock. Mate, I'm 40 years old - 41 on Fri/13 - and if I wait any longer can you imagine how much crap I'm gonna cop about having a Mid-life Crisis? With any luck, I'll be in a better position in 12 mths time to be able to turn around and grab EXACTLY what I want. I'll have 12 mths experience under my belt by that stage too. I've owned numerous V8's by another manufacturer - who shall remain...

Not sure about that...The trade in valuation on my 2005 BA Mk2 2 months ago at the local Ford dealer was mid 30's.. - .so on that basis a BF2 owner should expect at least...

I was the same when I bought my BF GT, there were plenty of Autos left, but all manuals had been snapped up, I had to travel to get my manual car, I was the same, it was either manual or nothing.....so eventually I found one and snapped it up. Shop around, and be prepared to travel for the right car, check it out if she is sweet drive her home, it will be a great story to tell the grandkids when your too old to change gears...

That's what I have as a work bus. Never ridden a surf board in my life! Cheers Craig, JB Thanks mate. Yeah I really like my old ute but it had to go to make way for the family car (the Octane Ogre LOL). It resides south of Sydney now....
Back to the gearbox topic anyway... If most of your driving is in the city then the auto is pretty much a no brainer, if you get out of the city lots and like to 'drive' then a manual it has to be. I bought my auto F6 3.5 years ago as I was mainly in the city, now I am mainly in the country and my choice would be a manual and probably the V8 also now as I am out of the city and bottom end grunt not so crucial. If I was buying new...
i think no matter what you get, sometimes the other decision wouldve been better. id love an auto for driving in traffic, but then id regret it on cruises with some spirited driving
