Hi, Unfortunately, as long as you use first class international there's the chance of that happening. The only way around that problem is to use trackable priority mail, sure its more expensive but its worth the piece of mind and it takes away the ability of scam buyers to file on you like that. To many INR claims will hurt you as a seller, PP can start holding your funds for 21 days. Its ...

Thanks walter! I didnt know that! (about the inr claims hurting me) I think i remember someone saying they use ipic?

liveshopdie replied 2 months ago
I use shipsurance, similar to upic, and while their insurance doesn't add tracking, it is insured against loss or damage.

marie92001 replied 2 months ago
thank you LSD! Do you know if any have tracking? I am not sure if they dont have tracking how do you know if they are lost? I mean with the international packages?

swedishdrama replied 2 months ago
I use u-pic but it doesn't add tracking.

The only service that gives some kind of tracking (not everywhere, but many places) is Priority Mail.It is more expensive and lately I have had several customers trying to convince me to use First Class. However, my fear is what you mention, the problem you are having. There is no recourse with paypal if you don't have some sort of tracking. Sure, UPIC insures, but that will not take the ...

I agree tania! It is such a pita! Even low cost items!

Hi all, I still have a question that has not been answered re the first class international shipping using a 3rd party insurer. As liveshoppe said, the third party insurer covers loss or damage so I had no concerns when using it. Can someone explain how this adversely works if a PP claim is filed? Is it because the insurer has not provided a tracking #? Can't all the other info provided by the...

galetime replied 2 months ago
You can not file a claim thru u-pic until 45 days after shipment, and this is probably the norm for most 3rd party insurance. The buyer actually has to sign a statement that they did not receive their item (done via email) which is then filed with the insurance claim. If the buyer does not want to wait 45 days and files with Paypal and gets their money immediately, then refuses to file the ...

Not only that, but you get a hit on paypal (like a bad mark) for having a thing filed against you and won against you. Basically, it maks you look bad in front of paypal, and too many of those and you start getting in troubles with them as they start putting restrictions and holds on your account.

This is one of the areas that both paypal and ebay need to review/overhaul as many sellers are afraid to ship international 1st class. I TOTALLY agree with that Lady!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Where is the third party delivery confirmation, or dc for first class? I'd gladly purchase that from somebody." "THERE IS NO DC FOR FIRST CLASS." Sorry, that was a rhetorical question. Like asking "Why can they put a man on the moon but not make an electric car with a battery that can stay charged long enough to go across the state." I know I can't get it with First Class, but I want it.

THERE IS NO DC FOR FIRST CLASS. That is it. I know many sellers choose to mail first class, I do not consider mailing things Priority Mail UNFAIR. The price is higher, but it is the only service that protects the item and has tracking in case something happens. UPIC and ENdicia or whatever could refund you, yes, but in the meantime while that happens, you will have a paypal claim against you that you will LOOSE because you have no delivery...

Ebay does not require a seller to have insurance on all packages. It is now as it has always been, the sellers responsibility to make sure all packages arrive to the buyer. Sellers in the past were allowed to push the insurance cost off to the buyer. No longer can the seller require/ask the buyer to purchase insurance. It is up to the seller the amount they are willing to gamble with, just that simple. Insurance has always been to protect the...

Gale,Luk, and Mag, thanks for the info on your post. Gale your explanation was the answer I was seeking as to how PP played into the scheme of things. So if a claim is filed through PP first (because of a lost item) and the 3rd party claim is still pending your ID reputation can be damaged.and money lost if there is no follow through at a later time with the 3rd party insurer. Mag, I do use IF as my hosting site and they do offer insurance at...

Y'all are right, and my apologies to all. I didn't read the thread carefully enough to see we were speaking of International and not Domestic. My Bad. I used to ship worldwide (and I truly meant anywhere - Pitcairn Island - bring it on!), but have almost completely eliminated International shipping outside of North America due PayPal's changed proof of delivery requirements and the expense involved.

You cannot print 1st class international postage through Paypal. And the 13 cent e/dc for domestic 1st class is not applicable to international. What you can do, but the fee is hefty, is send 1st class international registered with return receipt (adds about $13 to the cost). Unfortunately, I do not believe that this is on-line tracking. It is 'snail mail tracking'. And I've never used it because most of my items aren't...
