Hi everyone! A partner and I, who are from NC, are starting a business and need about $900,000 in an SBA loan (because it involves buying a property) and I'm hoping that since we are both women, it might be easier since the SBA has special loans for women in small business. I am not sure being women will really help you in any way secure a SBA loan. You would be better off focusing on the details of the deal. SBA loans can help entrepreneurs secure start-up funding - but know that you have to get past your bank first. I know SBA has done alot of good for people and businesses, but everybody knows sometimes their qualifications can be out of reach, or sometimes deny a client for the silliest reasons and/or give you the run-around. Kudos to you if you are eligible and able to receive the funding you need from their source, but if not for some reason, seeking alternative financial instutions and lenders can be ...

There currently is a Recovery Act program available for SBA 7A loans that waive the majority of the fees and guarantees 90% of the loan (up from the usual 75%). This is all part of the infusion of funds into the SBA loan programs that took place earlier this year. But, you need to act fast. This all runs out at the end of 2009.
