According to the report the league has already rejected the players proposal of guaranteed contracts and for the elimination of club options on players’ contracts. Owners are going to threaten to pull out of the league and the players need to call them on it. Everyone has a lot to lose, but soccer players, most of them at least that are not big names and can sign abroad can earn a decent or comparable living outside of soccer anyway. The owners have millions-billions invested in this. I say call them on their bluff and if the league folds...so be it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if a (six-month) "strike" or "lock-out" (or whatever prevents a new CBA from being in place for the first half of the season) causes MLS to not play any official matches in the run-up to the World Cup, and if the next MLS season starts in late July or August, I (as a fan who wouldn't mind seeing MLS in the long run have a winter mid-season ...
