Playback preview from within Waveburner is too fast. The transport is counting seconds too quickly, and audio is pitch shifted up. It seems as though playback is at the wrong sample rate, since the burned disc is correct and playing the same audio files in other applications works with no problem.
The files in question are 44.1 bounces of 48 KHz WAVs. They are already downsampled...
