The entire area for many blocks in every direction from the St. Michel station is very lively and perfectly safe at any time of the day or night.

I'm intending to book a hotel near the Saint-Michel Notre Dame station in Paris. Am hoping to find a lively neighbourhood with lots of cafes, restaurants, fast food and is safe to walk the streets at night. Hope to receive some advice from anyone who is familiar with this area.
