Thread: Planning on Buying Lights (Budget: $300-$400)

Started 2 months ago by DJ SkullRocker
I want to buy my own lights so I don't have to worry about renting but I'm not sure where to start and what lights will get the job done at parties. My budget is 300 to 400 dollars and I'm hoping some of you can lead me in the right direction

get 10 martin mac 250 entours, 20 color key par 64s, martin magnum hazer and a grandMA 2, then your set, Also your gonna need a distro, cables and some box trussing with crank shafts. Enjoy

I would go with the Mac 2000s. I mean, if you're gonna do something, do it right.

OK Seriously guys, all this stuff would cost me well over the budget I said I was on. Can I please get some real answers =/ Also, I have no idea how to set those up and install them and control them once I get them, is there anywhere you can lead me to that will explain this to me? Someone on here told me that the Chauvet Vue III is a good start but I might want to expand on it. I might get...

I gave you some. Look into the Colorkey LED pars. Always go with washes FIRST. It's hard to really come up with something with such a low budget, but it's better to get high quality and slowly add more than to waste money on junk you will have to replace.

Well I just bought 2 Tapco TH-15A's which bit a chunk out of how much money I have left (I'm 15). But all I need to complete my setup is lights then I won't need to buy anymore stuff or rent for a while and can keep going with house parties etc. I was looking into getting the Chauvet Vue III because people say its a necessity for the price of 100. I'll get that, but what else should I get on ...

I found the Colorkey LED pars, the 1 Watt Wash one, for 230 dollars. I can barely afford 2.. would that be enough? Or Can I get one of those plus a Chauvet Vue III? Would that set me up or not really?

I like how one color key is like $200 some freaking dollars.... seriously, there are less expensive options that get the job done. Dude, get one or two of these... I think you'll cover more footage and it will be around the same cost... http://www.americanmusical.com/Item-...EDPAR200B-L IST

look at the Chauvet 4 bar...if you contact a dealer on here like BillESC you can get a solid deal...plus it comes with a foot controller to run the lights, and it has 4 wash lights on it and the set up time is only 15 minutes tops

Mystic replied 2 months ago
The Colorkeys cost a bit because they are damn good and a hell of a lot better than Chauvet's low end line. It would be very much worth getting 2 to start and add more to the rig as time goes on rather than having to replace other fixtures with better ones in the not-so-far future. If you'd rather go the route of the smaller diodes: http://www.stageoutlet.com/led/led-pars/10210.html <--- $...

you agreed to do it free, do not raise the price after an agreement is reached. next time do not agree to less than what you are willing to accept. If you want money, sell glowsticks or something. (whatever is popular this week) put on the best show you possibly can. rent the equipment you need. make a GOOD name for yourself, so you can get future paying business from it, and more importantly, possibly get laid.
