RAM Tough? ....... From the Wall Street Journal ........ Fiat Models to Drive Chrysler New Lineup Will See Return of Alfa Romeo, End of Many Chryslers, Dodges and Jeeps "Under the new product plan, Chrysler will drop several Dodge products, including the Caliber compact, Nitro SUV and Avenger sedan, but will keep the Dodge Challenger, a muscle car, and the full-size Charger sedan. "...
I will guess the IVECO Diesel will eventually go into the RAM HD if Marchionne wants virtually everything to have a FIAT base. I thought they would hold off trying to introduce too much FIAT DNA into Chrysler so it could gradually underpin the Chrysler product line. Alfa Romeo is going to be way too European in styling for traditional Chrysler buyers. Alfa Romeo 147
Sounds great. Honestly. Chrysler has a lot of garbage in its lineup. The Caliber, Patriot, Avenger, and every other rental car piece of [censoredlang] needs to be dropped. Putting funky sheetmetal on whatever unibody platform is not the way to build cars. Jeep should sell nothing but Jeeps. If I had it my way, they would all be purpose built SFA vehicles, but at least they are dropping ...
Fiat is European...they [censoredlang] vehicles that can pass as crossovers... http://www.fiat.com/cgi-bin/pbrand.dll/F...OID=-10 73761346 Rebadge and throw new sheet metal on one of those stupid things and sell it as a Caliber until that stupid fad dies...then focus on building real cars.
Quote: They're lacking small suv/crossover replacements. In the metal Alfa Romeo's are pretty quirky looking. I feel the rather conservative buyers from Chrysler may baulk at putting "hard earned" down for an unknown brand and odd styling.Other car makers are offering much more palatable suv/crossovers. Quote: A Caliber isn't quirky? I've driven these awful things. If people will buy a Caliber, they will buy ANYTHING. Changing sheet metal is nothing anyway. Calibers are awful I know. Some of the FIATS will be rebadged do not think any will have new sheetmetal. Your reaction to their current italian styling , is how many potential US buyers are going to react.
Some Fiats have sheet metal that will probably work in the US, but honestly quite a few of them look outdated and would probably need changes to be strong sellers here. We already have the Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, Smart car, and a bunch of other odd balls, so strange styling isn't completely new here at all. I guess my point is, you can't get worse than some of the vehicles in the current ...
Quote: It will be interesting to see how Fiat does. Believe it or not my dad bought a brand new Fiat 124 coupe or some piece of Before I was married(now that is a long time ago!) A girlfriend had an Alfa GTV, that leaked through the glovebox when it rained!!. They have improved dramatically in quality since then. They had too.

Quote: This opinion, like much of this particular thread, is incorrect. ......... +1. My brother's 5.2 4x4 '94 (sold earlier this year) went 210,000+ miles, original motor/tranny, still running strong. And I've seen a few Cummins with 300,000+ miles on them.

Just stating the condition of the truck.
Mercedes thought they would replace the Cummins with one of their own. That idea fizzled pretty quick and I expect Fiat will either realize the same or lose many customers.
I have to disagree with you my friend. I have been in the lawn care/landscaping/snow removal business for 22 years, and have owned trucks from Ford, Chevy and Dodge. My Dodge's are by far the best trucks I have owned. That is why I will stick with them. My 1995 Dakota 4X4 has 312K miles on it. I did replace the tranny once, and some small other things that wore out, but all in all a solid truck for what I ask of it. My 1996 Dakota is all...
