Started 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Gh3tTo5oLdIeR
OK the budget is 1000 dollars don't need a monitor, and or hard drive. The only game I will probably be playing on this computer will be starcraft 2. I would prefer intel but am not set on it. Message Edited by Gh3tTo5oLdIeR on 09-09-2009 10:56 AM

how much of a difference will the one 8x pci express have on overall crossfire perfromance?

IMO if youre only playing starcraft 2, stick with one video card and give yourself extra cash towards the mobo/cpu/ram. Possibly grab one of the new Lynnfields.

If it's just for Starcraft 2, would it be worth banking some of that money instead for a future graphics card upgrade when needed?

Yeah, it will only be starcraft 2. The only PC games I've ever played are the Age Of Empires series, Warcraft series, Doom, Duke Nukem, and Starcraft. Never really got into it other than that...oh I also played oregon trail. Thnx for the help guys much appreciated. This setup will work with 64bit Vista right?

The rig I posted is set up for pure video game performance.  Sure, you could go with one video card and get an i7, but dual vid cards will, in most cases, get you better framerates for your dollar. Message Edited by Samuel71 on 09-10-2009 06:20 PM

This is the only reason I would go with a Bloomfield core i7 vs a lynnfield core i5/i7. bloomfield still has full 16 lanes while the cheaper...

For a game as big as StarCraft 2, there will be specially-made...
