What i have is a quadcore 2.6ghz 2gbRAM pc (2 of the ram sticks need replacing which would take it ...

RAM is not that important for Pianote q . I'd say your drivers aren't in the best shape and that gives you dropouts. Also, what is your hard drive?

my vst setup is rock solid on a similar machine. id do a clean install of windows and just start over. that should take care of whatever issues you are having. hunting for one bad driver or registry entry never works for me.

XP64 might be your issue. Get back to XP32, preferably one of the leaner versions (DuX XP SP3 is veeeeery good, fast, and optimized for audio - google it).

On the network? Surfing the web with that machine? Have antivirus-software installed? Infected with virii? Any of these can cause problems.

alright well i went to windows 7 and deleted half the stuff off my harddrive (couldnt format for some reason), which seems to have made a difference. Strangely when i reinstalled some vsts some which were reliable now arent and vice versa. Using the pc without the internet cable being in the machine seems to help. Having said all of this its not 100%, the synths are still messing up say once ...
