FLAC is a lossless format and currently the PS3 does not support any lossless format in the music player but WAV files which are large and cannot be tagged, therefore they are not a viable option for a music library. I find it really unbelievable that a system that supports high ...
Technically Sony have their own lossless format, similar to that used in DTS-HD MA, which includes a core ATRAC3plus and the remaining bits of information. Aparently it can be used with the PSP although I've never tried it. They seem to have abandoned the idea of ATRAC these days though. No idea why they don't include it, or FLAC, though as it would be a nice feature to have.
I'll be happy to see flac support, as my whole music collection (Thousends of songs) are in flac on my computer, and it's incovieniant to convert them to mp3 for ps3. but petitions never work

I highly recommend it. However, I also would like native FLAC ...

You only need to look as far as the credits to see z-lib (a compression library) is used (a lot). Sony openly backs linux as the other OS, again open source. Sony also use open source for their games, PSGL (variant of OPEN GL ES1.0/2.0) and COLLADA. So the open source...

But how many of your saves are protected? besides, protected saves doesn't stop someone starting the game from scratch you don't loose your trophies so, if it's trophies your worried about, don't be.

I guess IBM, Cisco, Novell and Microsoft do not count as a "Big Companys"? You should really read the documents that come with their products and software. IBM has done loads of open source integration and Microsoft has used loads of Open Source BSD programs. Also a lot of...
