Thread: Paypal Problem....

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by gbatey
Hi All, Been using ebay for years and had nothing like this before.... Received an email from Paypal the other day saying that an item that I had sold back in August has now had the payment 'reversed' either by the bank or the account holder and Paypal have opened an enquiry. Now the guy had left feedback when he received the item so we know it got to him but does anyone know why I ...

How much was the item, how did you send it ? A claim for fraudulent use of a card can be defended on ebay simply with proof of posting, so hopefully you still have that. However you will have to be proactive here as this is one area that paypal often overlook their own rules, keep on at paypal, upload your proof of posting but also keep on at the buyer as well. Tell buyer that this is ...

Thanks Soolin. I emailed the buyer and he said that he raised an issue with his bank as Paypal had taken duplicate amounts out of his bank account and it is the bank that has raised the enquiry. I know he definately received the item as he left feedback and also he doesn't seem to be disputing that which is good. Had numerous emails back and forth from Paypal saying I have to fax ...

They have told you how to defend the claim, so send them proof of postage and you will be fine.

Hi, just an update on this.... Went back to Paypal on the 5th Nov and said could they give me the fax number to send the proof of postage to as for some reason they had blanked it out with hash signs on the email they sent me. Got an email back next day with the fax number on however another email came in before that stating that they've ruled in favour of the buyer and refunded him his ...

Hello, The last time i had to sort of of these out i was told i had to email an address which if i remember was achreturns@paypal.com i had to quote the transaction reference number the address posted to the value of the item, what the item was and tracking number for proof of delivery. My problem was a buyer had purchased a phone then few weeks later the payment reversed so i gave him...

Hi, Mark - The email address is the one above that I have been corresponding with the Paypal staff and they seem to keep ignoring what I am telling them.... Soolin - I have emailed the buyer twice this week and he unsurprisingly is not coming back to me now (although he replied pretty much straight away when I asked him what was going on originally) as I want to know whats happening at ...

You say you have a receiot but it isn't proof of postage? What sort of receipt do you have as any form of postage receipt that shows the receiving address will protect you against this chargeback. However I am concerned that a £60 item wasn't sent tracked as standard mail only covers up to £39 of loss anyway. In your auction did you state the postage method? I am concerned here that you ...

Hi Soolin, It's one of those receipts that the Royal Mail give you where they write down the value of the postage and then stamp it so it shows the date and the office I posted it from. I didn't realise about the cover of 39.00 (sorry-the value was 60.00 including the postage at 10.00 so the item value was 50.00). Postage method was stated in the listing as first class standard so maybe he...

If the buyer has told you that their problem was with Paypal and not you, just ask for them to resend the payment to you. See what they say to that, good luck!

I would phone paypal if you're not getting any joy on e-mail. I phoned them a couple of weeks ago about a dispute that was ongoing and they were really helpful on the phone.
