I can't believe I am asking here, but I am out of ideas.
My G/F son is in 3rd grade, he wont do his work , lies about if he has any homework. He knows he won't get away with it we ask the teacher if he has any regularly.
He just now walks up with a permission slip for field trip, we notice he has something else in the notebook.... school work he did poorly on that teacher sent him home ...
My "pee on him" comment stems back to a problem someone was having with a dog. It was mentioned that if you piss in a dog's face, it then sees you as the Alpha male.
Strangelove, I can already tell you're not going to last here. Your manly boxers don't cover your vagina well enough to keep the sand out of it.

I don't believe you. I don't believe that your kids' school has corporal punishment. I don't believe you because if it was the school's policy and you didn't agree then your kids would not be going there....AND there is no way in hell that...
60 percent of the schools here use corporal punishment. In FL it is perfectly legal for you or ,anyone you give permission, to hit your kids with a hand, or a belt or such. The only provision is you must hit them on the rear. My daughter is 22 months old and she get spankings when she gets out of line. My wife wont do it and she doesn't listen to mommy, but she never disobeys daddy...

When you ask him why he does something and he says "I dunno" that is an excuse. He DOES know and doesnt want to tell you because he sees you as a friend, rather than as someone in a position of authority over him. This is a very fine line to tread, as he is not "your" son, but he does live in your house, correct? You need to explain to him that things are going to be a certain way, ...
It's not about homework.
He needs to be in counseling- I know this from experience. The two of you should also be in sessions to learn all of the ins and outs. Then you can be on the same page and remove the tension from the situation.
Like anything else, good training will make a difference. Would you try to wing brain surgery?
