Thread: PX-32TSi DAE firmware? (HP CD32X)

Started 3 months, 1 week ago by Pegasus_
Hello there. I have a firmware request. I currently have seven HP-branded CD32X drives which are just Plextor PX-32TSi drives with firmware 1.02. (These are CD-ROMs only, not writers.) Unfortunately the firmware doesn't support Digital Audio Extraction so I was wondering if anyone with a Plextor drive with firmware 1.03 or later could rip it and send me a BIN/HEX file? (The firmware is on an ...

Oh, I've tried. Any time you ask them to play audio digitally, they just sit there stupidly, essentially ignoring the command. (And the OS reports an error and offers to do analog playback.) These drives are reported to do DAE with f/w 1.03 and higher, so that's why I'm asking for it. Thanks!

WHO SAYS that they dont support DAE? I say thats a hoax.

Contact Plextor support and report DAE problems. You should be provided with free PROMs containing the latest FW.

Seems that you must ask HP for it, not Plextor.

Ah HAAA. Thank you for that valuable information. I'll search the web, but do you have any software suggestions off the top of your head? I'm currently using K3B on Linux using the cdparanoia library with my other drives.

The obvious candidates would be Plextools Pro: http://plextor.jp/pc/download/software.html (the program is in english) or Plextools Pro XL: http://www.plextools.com/download/download.asp or any other program that has been around long enough to possibly know these drives in a more intimate way than just MMC, like possibly: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

Unless the drives are ”re-prom'ed”, they will surely not be recognized as genuine Plex-drives by Plextools, which is why EAC most likely is the best solution (for a Windows based system). I had the same problem with an IBM drive (PX 20 TSI, in disguise) a long time ago.
