I was having a similar problem. Every time I tried to download an update it kicked me off the internet and had to do all the same things as you to get it to work agian. Once I read this thread I tried disabling the media server and try downloading the update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 once again. And to my surprise, it download without a problem!

I have charter.  I don't think it really has anything to do with that though.  I used to have this problem too.  Just manually go and change the ip address on either your PS3 or computer cause they're trying to use the same one.  Just increase the last digit in the series by one.  Like if the address on the computer is 111.11.111 then change the PS3 to 111.11.112.    You can find the computers ip address by opening the...
