Danlee, Gunbroker.com has Paraordnance GI Expert listed. One was $500. Para makes a darn great 1911 too. Not sure if you've ever been on there or not, but on the left hand side, click on the words Semi-auto pistol, then go to the blank search box up top and enter GI Expert, or any other model 1911 you want to look at.

Quote: I'd say about 200 rounds have gone thru it and it shows a little bit of wear and tiny rust spots mostly from carrying I think. any thoughts? should I just go for it at that price? 75% or 80% of retail is a good rule of thumb for like-new, and barely used guns. That would be $825 to $880, so he's almost there. But the rust spots are ...

I would give the edge to the BHP. This is mainly due to the fact that M1911 magazines in my opinion wear out a lot faster than BHP mags.

Both systems are the genius of J.M. Browning but, are highly dependent on quality magazine's. If you have cheap mags, you will get 'jams'...

This ammo is good stuff, not dirty.

I've shot quite a bit of it, mostly in .38 spec and .357, worked just fine. I've reloaded plenty of the brass, too.

The first Independence brand ammo on the shelves was made for ATK by CBC in Brazil, makers of Magtech. It has since been seen with Made in USA labels and is probably just Blazer Brass in a different box.

Would you clarify why night sights are necessary if it is NOT a carry gun, or did you leave a 'not' out of that sentence?

if you decide to go with a Fobus, just get the model that fits your barrel length. you don't have to get a "short" one my Fobus has been pretty good about aligning the front of the holster with the front sight as their seam is centered with both outer and inner halves of the holster meeting in the middle

Quote: I am considering a 1911 because I like the short crisp trigger, but I would like to stick to a DA Para-Ordnance pistols with the LDA action have a DAO trigger that is longer than a M&P or Glock but shorter than a Kahr. I have no personal experience with their recent pistols, however.

Do either of these display that taper? I'm guessing you mean on the sides of the frame and slide towards the muzzle end right? a nine Oh and you've got a pretty great list of choices up, I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them.

FOBUS is an acronym: Found Out Being Utter Sh*t I have one that had been on 2-3 prize tables before I got it. The front sight, regardless of profile, catches the holster severely. It's only your life on the line........... Buy a GOOD holster.
