MY SPECS: CPU: PHENOM II 940 3.52GHZ NOW STOCK COOLER RAM: GEIL 4X2GB DDR2 800MHZ GRAPHIC CARD: GIGABYTE RADEON 4870X2 2GB HDD: 3X 500GB WD AKS SATA2 MB: GIGABYTE MA-790X-DS4 rev.F9 ANY TIPS ON HOW TO OVERCLOCK MY SYSTEM? AND A PROBLEM I FACE, WHENEVER I OVERCLOCK EVEN A LITTLE MY GRAPHIC CARD, EVERUTHING'S MESSED WITH ARTIFACTS AND REBOOTS.

well first off it's often a good idea to make sure your bios is up-to-date. plus always overclock in the bios. you arent software overclocking the cpu? good programs for overclocking the gpu and monitoring temps are msi afterburner or rivatuner. go to the download section here and you will find some usefull programs. namely cpu-z. gpu-z. occt. linpack. prime95...

I overclock from bios 17.5*200 for gpu i overclock from ati overdrive but either i doit by hand or autotune results in a crash... I don't know why... Any clues?

def give msi afterburner a go then. you can use a program called furmark to test stability (well i found it worked with my previous gpus, the 5870 dont think is supported). or its just a case of going up bit by bit and testing with games. some games dont like overclocking with the gpu or it could be temperamental drivers causing the issues.. http://downloads.guru3d...

this is a clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64bit. now i run my gpu at 765/925 from 750/900. is this the highest overclock i can do? i have the same artifacts problem even when running windows vista ultimate 64bit on the same computer.

thanks psychlone... the reasonis because i see numerous guys out there with the same gpu and they succeded at overclocking their gpu's but i can't. that's why i'm a litlle bit dissapointed by my gpu. no other reason. i'll give a try on your guide and i'll tell you the results... thanks again
