Thread: Our first trackable storm of 09-10??

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by MetsRule47
Two straight runs of the GFS have this...... And super cold after the storm too...... Will this verify? Probably not as depicted. Will we get our first flakes out of this? Quite possible........ Matt

While this looks impressive it is 240 hrs out, so that is a negative. It has, however, shown up on the gfs and euro, and each of the models show a potential vetrans day storm.

^^ Of course it's 240h out- don't gas up the snowblowers or anything. But when you consider the (for now) run-to-run continuity, the fact that it's on more than one model, and how many people are going for an early beginning to winter, I know I'm officially on "possible first flakes" alert......... Matt

The cold temps and storm looks impressive....This may actually give us our first Plowable snow of the season but caution at this point and time is advised....

WeatherNut26 replied 1 month, 1 week ago
Well snow's plowable snow event is gone on 0z GFS, replaced with mild temps. Hopefully he won't jump off a bridge.

Yes there is both an inland runner, and a lakes cutter, resulting in twice the pain.

It is nice to see that there is some items of interest to glance at from time to time, rather than waiting until december.

I'll put the personal alert on "interested with hints of nonchalance"

I don't know calculus, thermodynamics, etc but I've been studying wx and modeling for far too long, and something seems fishy to me. I think the coasties might need to watch this........ Matt

Maybe it's wrong. But take a look now what the 12z ECMWF ensembles is showing for this period now. The OP run was similar too:

Is this technically the first one of the season? Anyway, Upton mentions it moving across the area with minimal impacts, but there is the potential for it to bomb out SE of the tristate area; a mix of rain and snow changing to snow showers behind it. Could be an interesting week! VIGOROUS ALBERTA CLIPPER MOVES INTO THE OHIO VALLEY WED NIGHT. MODEL CONSENSUS IS FOR REDEVELOPMENT OFF THE DELMARVA COAST...BUT FAR ENOUGH EAST TO REALLY NOT IMPACT...
